Into the Woods for New Years Eve

I spent my New Year’s Eve under a blanket of stars with the most incredible group of people. There was laughing, dancing and just enough cricket noise to help you sleep soundly (if you were one of the ones who took three Benadryl before bed). Due to the amount of fun I was having, there wasn’t a lot of time to reflect on the year, but I did think back on a few things. 1. I have learned more about myself this year than I ever new before. 2. Family is the most important thing. 3. Situations that seem impossible to navigate through at the time tend to sort themselves out (with lots and lots of prayer). I realize these are fairly vague principles but this is my year we’re talking about and I’m just telling it like it happened.
As I spent the end of 2014 in the middle of nowhere, I already had a few firsts for the New Year. I have gone camping several times but it is usually in an RV or at a campsite with hookups, public restrooms and anything else I might need. This trip was a little different. With no restrooms or electricity, I forced myself to wear less make up and bring only the essentials: toothbrush, toothpaste, dry shampoo, face wipes and Chapstick. I am only now realizing that I didn’t even bring a hairbrush, which probably wasn’t my brightest idea.
The woods and I have now seen more of each other than we ever imagined, (I have become an excellent squatter) and I finally had an excuse to wear my duck boots in the proper setting.

I have no idea what 2015 has in store for me, but I bet it is something spectacular.

  1. First, you've always been a good squatter! :) Second, I love and appreciate my family more than anything also!! Third, you are so beautiful with little or no make-up! And you make those duck boots look adorable!
